We are excited to introduce Daypack Decodables, a series of 120 brief, decodable, fiction and nonfiction texts designed to be engaging and exciting for kids and easy to use for teachers, tutors, and parents. Kids will love the engaging characters–Mabel, Rasheed, and Gus are featured throughout–and the interesting topics. Adults will find that the accompanying resources–a simple-to-give assessment and a lesson plan for each book–will make these books a powerful resource for teaching.
Because these texts are carefully sequenced and because there are a lot of them, they’ll provide your kids with the progression of decoding practice they need. The series begins with letter books and patterned decodable books that provide perfect practice for the earliest reader and then progresses all the way through multisyllabic words. Along the way, blends and digraphs, vowel variants, and syllable types are introduced logically and supported by authentic text. We hope these books provide practice to kids and balance to your collection of leveled and decodable books.
We’ve also designed Daypack Decodables to be inexpensive and replaceable. It’s so tempting sometimes to keep books tucked away in a cabinet out of fear of losing or damaging them. We hope these budget-friendly little books travel with kids to homes, sleepovers, recess time, and the works, and, most of all, that they are in book baggies to provide kids with consistent practice.
